A wildfire erupted in LA's Brentwood neighborhood early this morning, but thanks to quick action from firefighters, it was contained within an hour.
This one makes me sad. I'm still trying to process the fact that a wildfire broke out in our own backyard - literally. The fire erupted around 2:50 a.m. Near Vandergrift Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard.
The Firefighters Were Quick
Firefighters attacked the blaze from the ground and air, preventing it from spreading beyond about 1.5 acres. It's a miracle they were able to contain it so quickly - I mean, who needs sleep when there's a fire to fight?
Firefighters Contain Blaze in Brentwood After 1-Hour Effort
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that a wildfire broke out in LA's Brentwood neighborhood, where some of the most affluent homes are located. The fire erupted near Vandergrift Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, which is just a stone's throw away from some of the city's most expensive real estate.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze within an hour, preventing it from spreading beyond 1.5 acres. But what really gets me is that this fire broke out on the same day that Santa Ana winds are expected to hit the region - a perfect storm for wildfires. I'm wondering if this was just a coincidence or if there's something more at play here.
I've been trying to find out if anyone was injured in the fire, but so far, no reports have come in. The LA Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the blaze, and I'm guessing it'll take some time before we get any answers. In the meantime, let's hope that this is just a minor setback for our community.
Crews halted its forward progress within an hour, and the fire is now under control.
